Jennifer Jackson PhD RN

Dr. Jennifer Jackson, PhD is a Registered Nurse and Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Calgary, in Alberta, Canada. She is committed to fostering resilience in people and systems, and supporting nurses.

Jennifer graduated with a BScN Honours from St. Francis Xavier University. She worked at a large teaching hospital in Ontario where she pursued roles in nephrology, intensive care, and management. Jennifer earned a Master of Nursing from Athabasca University, with a research interest in the process of resilience for critical care nurses. This research was supported with awards from the Canadian Nurses Foundation and the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada.

Jennifer earned her PhD in Nursing Research at the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care at King’s College London.  Her research interest was in nursing work and resilient health care, supported by King’s College London and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

Currently, her program of research focuses on improving health services and supporting the workforce in community-based harm reduction addiction and mental health services.

Jennifer has been awarded the St. Catherine Medal of Honour and received the Rising Star Award from the Athabasca University Alumni Association. She was named to Avenue Magazine’s Top 40 Under 40, class of 2024. She hopes to make a positive difference for nurses and patients around the world.
